Kim Bernhardt – Co-Chair - Board of Directors

Kim Bernhardt is a lawyer in private practice and she specializes in labour, employment,

and human rights law. Kim has written papers and presented at numerous conferences and events; in particular on employment and human rights issues. Previously Kim worked as a union staff member, a business teacher in the United Arab Emirates, and as an investigator with the Ontario Human Rights Commission. She has also served as a member of a number of boards and agencies including the Public Service Grievance Board, Human Rights Board of Inquiry, the Ontario Judicial Council, and the Human Rights Tribunal Practice Advisory Committee.

In addition to her work with The Nathaniel Dett Chorale Kim has a long history of involvement in community and legal organizations concerned with equity, law, education, and social issues including; Thistletown Community Services; Ontario Black History Society; Amnesty International; Halton Board of Education, Equity Committee; Urban Alliance on Race Relations; Canadian Association of Black Lawyers; Delos Davis Law Guild; National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL); the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund’s (LEAF) National Legal Committee (NLC); and the African and Canadian Women’s Human Rights Project (ACWHRP).
