YOU OUGHTA KNOW ~ Traditional; Arr. by B. Red, J. Joubert & M. McElroy
Solo – Floydd Ricketts
Have you heard about the baby born in Bethlehem?
Wrapped in swaddling cloths a meek and humble lamb.
You oughta know!
Help me sing!
There came three wise men who had travelled from afar,
To the manger, they were guided by a star.
You oughta know!
They came to worship the child the prophets had foretold,
Bringing precious gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold.
You oughta know!
To Joseph and Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ was born,
They travelled form Nazareth, so weary and so worn.
Born in a stable, there was no room in the inn,
The angels proclaim, “Glory to God on earth, peace and good will toward men!”
The shepherds in the field watched o’er their flocks by night,
An angel appeared to them in bright and wondrous light.
You oughta know!
They were guided to the manger filed with joy,
Then they went and spread the word about the baby boy.
You oughta know!
Sent from heaven down, God’s one and only Son.
Jesus is born, and now God’s awesome will be done.
Sent from heaven down to save someone like me,
And for his sacrifice, we have the victory!
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and One adored.
Born upon the earth, our everlasting Lord.
You oughta know!
Jesus Christ, the light and joy to all he brings.
Bringing life eternal, this is why we sing!
You oughta know,
Tidings of great joy,
You oughta know,
About the little boy.
You oughta know,
The good news I can tell,
You oughta know,
About the king, Emmanuel!
In case you didn’t know about the birth of Jesus Christ, now you know!
